52 pages all in colour. The book covers the M151A1, M151A2, M718, plus the harptop and trailers used with the M151.

The M151A1 features a general walkaround giving nice details of the whole vehicle.
This is followed by extreme close ups for the interior and exterior including the engine compartment and chassis.

Following this is two pages on the M718 ambulance version with some nice interior and exterior photos.

The M151A2 is next and again has a general walkaround followed by more sensational close up interior and exterior shots. The Mutt used for this photo session is a USMC vehicle and so includes the extended air intakes out of the engine compartment. It also has some non-standard fittings, thankfully these are noted in the photo captions, so read carefully before going ahead and adding detail to the Tamiya or Academy kit.

The M151A2 hardtop is shown next and also has some nice interior and exterior photos as per the others featured.

Lastly some nice detail photos of the 1/4 ton cargo trailer often towed by the Mutt and included in one of the Tamiya mutt kits and the Academy M151A2 Hard Top with Tralier kit.

In all, this is a superb book on the M151 and a must have if you want to add details the the Tamiya or Academy kits or convert the kit to any of other versions

M35A2 in detail

WWP continue their record of producing excellent reference sources for the modeller with this latest title on the M35A2 Deuce in the Present Vehicle Line.
The book is entirely in colour with clear detailed photos large enough to show the details with brief captions on each.

The first eleven pages gives a brief historical rundown on the M35 series and mentions other types with photos such as the M36 and various shelter and workshop bodies added to the M35 as well as shots of two replica gun trucks from the Vietnam era.

Pages 12 to 53 has a detailed walk around of a standard cargo M35A2 with superb close-up shots of every aspect of the vehicle starting with the exterior cab details with multiple shots from different angles of most features.
The rear cargo body is treated similarly with shots of the exterior and interior showing the tilt cover framework and wooden sides.
The cab interiors is covered in detailed close-up with again multiple photos of particular features from different angles for a good overall view of things such as the instrument panel, steering wheel, controls and seats.

The engine is then shown in eight pages of close-up details which show the associated plumbing and engine bay details including the inside of the hood. The underside drive train and suspension details are also shown in great detail from and insects viewpoint with every nut and bolt shown as well as providing excellent reference with painting all the grease and oil stains.

A brief walk around of the M105 cargo trailer is followed by a eight page modelling section with a few built up gun truck models and one shown during construction with the addition of the Real Models resin engine and scratch built plastic card sides.

Following this is a brief walk around of the M41 Quad .50 trailer and turret mounted on the tray of some gun trucks and finally there are twelve large colour side profile illustration of M35A1/A2 based gun trucks from Vietnam with text descriptions to offer some inspiration for modellers.

Κώστα, τα παραπάνω βιβλία είναι πολύ καλά κυρίως για μοντελιστικούς λόγους, για το τελικό φινίρισμα και γενικά σου δίνουν ιδέες για το πως να φτιάξεις το όχημα σου.
Μηχανολογικά δεν λένε και πολλά.

Α, ναι βέβαια. Είναι αποκλειστικά "walkarounds" οχημάτων που κάποια απο αυτά είναι σπάνια εδώ π.χ. το Μ718 και όλα είναι πολύ
σωστά αποκατεστημένα και τα οποία έχουν φωτογραφηθεί από κάθε πιθανή γωνία. Το γράφει και το review άλλωστε.

Κάποιο άλλο της σειράς αυτής είχε νομίζω τα στάδια μιας ανακατασκευής ενός ελληνικού Μ-38, αυτό εδώ:

Ναί, είναι όντως αλμυρή η τιμή του, και να δούμε πόσο θα κλείσει η πώλησή του τελικά..
Εδώ όμως θα λέγαμε ότι το βιβλίο αυτό αξίζει το βάρος του σε χρυσάφι..

Ξαναγυρνάμε λέτε σε εποχές "ρεφενε"; Μμμμ..δεν θα ήταν άσχημη ιδέα..

Bart Vanderveen’s association with military vehicles, their origins, history, preservation and restoration is legendary. He restored his first MV in 1959 having produced his first book the previous year, since when he authored numerous titles on the subject. From 1982 until his death in 2001, he compiled and edited Wheels & Tracks, attaining a reputation around the world for detail and accuracy.

The Bart Vanderveen Challenge Shield was inaugurated in 2002 and sponsored by After the Battle, publishers of Wheels & Tracks magazine.
